Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg’s musical Les Misérables will play for the first time in Switzerland in its original English version!
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of the ex-convict Jean Valjean, who agrees to the dying factory worker Fantine, to take care for her daughter, Cosette. The ex-convict, Jean Valjean, is still hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert, so he escapes together with Cosette to Paris, where they get into the street-revolution facing a fight for life, hope, love and freedom.
I admit that trying to watch the latest movie Les Misérables almost put me completely off of the actual opportunity to go the theater performance. Therefore, I would advice anyone who is on the fence because of similarly minded opinions...GO! The theatre experience will blow you away! The sound quality, thanks to the talented musicians and good sound techs really puts you in the center of audial ecstasy. The set design is outstanding, changing seamlessly and with dramatic effect, you cannot be anything but mesmerised. Costume authenticity takes you to a different era in time, and before you realise it you are enthralled with the singing, dancing and spirit of the moment.
If you like drama, prepare to be sitting on the edge of your seat as the talented performers act their way into your emotions, pulling at heart strings at different levels and moods. If you decide to go to only one theater performance in your life, this is the one to choose! Les Miserables, with a perfect blend of songs, dance, acting, visual and audial delight, you won't be disappointed ! Photos by: Matt Murphy
